Concrete Grinding

Surface Design Inc. provides grinding services for industrial and residential uses. If you have a bad seam that is going to show or a simple door that needs the sill ground, we can provide leveling of an old floor so there is not floor leveler that is too thick. You have to remember, you can build a floor up not down. We can get the concrete as level as possible, and with a good installer the labor will decrease without down time waiting for a leveler to dry. Some of the products need 24 - 36 hours to fully cure. This is not good for glue down products, such as carpet, wood floors and vinyl flooring.

Concrete Polishing

Concrete polishing is a technique that people get a false sense of sometimes. There is no topical coating. Some companies do put a thin film as a wear agent, which is alright if the floor under the coating is fully polished. A true polished floor will have the shine and luster for years to come. With the proper maintenance which is available at the time of service, the floor will last and shine for years and you the customer will be satisfied. The polished floor has less slip resistance than a hard floor. This concrete polishing method has been proven and tested by a independent firm in the polishing industry.

Contractors performing polishing should have the knowledge to answer any questions that a customer has. Some concrete is not meant to be polished. There are other alternative answers to this question. Concrete dye with a stencil is a very attractive way to stand out in the crowd. An acid stain is another way to be bold and have something different that will suit the needs of a customer. This is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to concrete.
